MEET THE GUY BEHIND THIS
I'm John Imler
I've spent my life around dogs, living with them and for the last 12 years working with them as a professional dog trainer. I've gotten a lot iof certificates and letters behind my name but more importantly I learned what matters... going on adventures with my dogs.
I've also spent a lot of time in the woods over the last 50 years. When I could I tried to take a dog with me. I've encouraged my clients to do the same and that encouragement, focus and drive is what led me to create Dog On Adventures and hopefully a professional pathway for those that believe the same... that the pet industry needs professionals skilled in the safe and responsible leadership and guidance of people and dogs in outdoor environments.
Dog On Adventures began with a simple belief: our dogs deserve a bigger life, and pet owners deserve professionals prepared to help them live it.

THE STORY BEHIND DOG ON ADVENTURES
(AND WHERE THIS IS GOING...)
Dog On Adventures grew out of decades of spending time with my dogs outside hiking, camping and the last 12 years of teaching clients that want that to do the same... safely.
As I said above the pet industry needs professionals skilled in the safe and responsible leadership and guidance to help people and dogs enjoy the oudoors.
As more and more pet owners seek active, outdoor lives with their dogs, traditional dog training alone does not adress the full range of skills these experiences demand. Canine adventure requires an understanding of dog behavior and handling, human and canine fitness, environmental awareness, risk management, wilderness preparedness, first aid and responsible outdoor ethics.
I didn't set out to create a certification but instead saw something missing. The pet industry has a number of certifications and specializations but nothing in this space... so instead of taking and guiding an apprentice in 2027... I decided to change our industry and develop a specialized professional category and certification. The PCAG (Certified Canine Adventure Guide)
The Canine Adventure Guide is designed to fill that space of preparing professionals not simply to train dogs, but to help people and dogs safely build the skills, confidence and capability to experience a bigger life together.
